U.S. Army Black Hawk Demonstrates Altius-700 Launched-Effects Teaming at Project Convergence
A U.S. Army H-60M Black Hawk has demonstrated the rocket-assisted launch of Anduril Altius-700 uncrewed aircraft during Project Convergence Capstone 6, according to company-released footage and reporting by Militarnyi. The event reportedly involved several Altius-700 systems operating as a connected formation to locate a target, exchange sensor data and support an engagement.
The demonstration is consistent with the Army’s broader Long-Range Precision Munition and air-launched-effects work. Earlier reporting indicated that the Army planned a first Black Hawk launch of an armed Altius-700M configuration at the 2026 Project Convergence event, using a rocket-boost launch tube rather than a ground launcher. The Army separately confirmed an AH-64E Apache launched an Altius 700 during a February 26, 2026 experimental event.
The latest flight test should not be read as confirmation of operational fielding or an autonomous weapon release policy. Public accounts describe a demonstration, and available reporting does not establish the number of aircraft launched, the target type, the level of human authorization involved in the engagement, or a production decision.
For the Black Hawk fleet, the central development is the potential to deploy sensors and weapons ahead of the crewed aircraft. Such launched effects could extend the helicopter’s ability to observe, target, relay communications or conduct strikes while the crew remains farther from the objective area. The capability would add a mission option to a utility helicopter rather than change its primary transport role.

Helicopter-launched uncrewed systems are becoming a practical element of Army aviation experimentation.
